The official launch of STREAM Network Cameroon. After years of dedicated effort and a transformative journey, our network is now ready to make a lasting impact.

From a Vision to a Movement

The story of STREAM (Stepping Stones Trainers Engaging with Activist Movements) Network Cameroon began at a four-day meeting in Kenya from September 30 to October 3, 2022. It was there that our shared vision for a safer, more equitable Cameroon was born. That vision became a reality when STREAM was officially legalized in Cameroon in March 2025. We are dedicated to upholding sexual and reproductive health rights, ending violence against women and children, and fostering stronger relationships between parents and children to encourage open and honest communication.

The Official Launch Day of Stream Network Cameroon.

On August 1, 2025, we celebrated our official launch in a hybrid event at the HEDECS Office in Yaoundé. The room was filled with passion and purpose, thanks to the presence of key partners and stakeholders. We were honored to host representatives from UNAIDS Cameroon, COALITION PLUS Senegal, and CCM Cameroon, along with 14 other dedicated participants. Their attendance underscored a shared commitment to our core thematic areas: Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), HIV/AIDS, and violence prevention. Their expertise and encouragement are important as we move forward.

During the launch, we presented a report on our activities from 2023, showcasing our growing presence in seven regions of Cameroon: Center, Littoral, Northwest, Southwest, West, South, and Far North. We shared our mission to create a rights-based, inclusive, and holistic network focused on ending inequalities and supporting all people, particularly women and children affected by HIV.

Key Takeaways and Future Directions

The event sparked lively and productive discussions:

  1. Funding and Partnerships: We addressed our recent application for the Amplify Change project, a testament to our growing capacity and ambition. Representatives from UNAIDS and CCM encouraged us to deepen our collaboration with HEDECS and other NGOs, highlighting that strong partnerships are the key to securing future projects and making a bigger difference.
  2. Growing Our Network: While STREAM is currently a women-led network, we are actively working to include men in our network to ensure a more balanced and comprehensive approach. We also welcome new members, especially in regions where we need more focal persons to help us expand our reach.
  3. Government and Community Engagement: We shared our efforts to partner with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and our readiness to refer cases of violence against men to our trusted partners.
