The Health Development Consultancy Services (HEDECS) recently concluded a pivotal Board of Directors meeting on December 30, 2025. This session marked a significant milestone in the organization’s transition into a full-fledged NGO, focusing on institutional strengthening, governance excellence, and sustainable community impact.
Following the General Assembly held earlier on 27 December 2025, the Board convened to translate high-level resolutions into actionable strategies for the coming years.
Key Highlights from the Board Meeting following the resolutions from the General Assembly
- Institutional Strengthening with Expertise France: The Board reviewed the progress of technical assistance provided by Expertise France (EF) and with technical experts from TeAM. This partnership is central to HEDECS’s goal of repositioning itself to fulfill its mission in a more sustainable and democratic manner.
- Strategic Governance Enhancements: A primary focus for 2026 is the comprehensive review of the Board Book to align with HEDECS’s new NGO status and to effectively fulfill its role as a Board. It will also establish membership criteria (roles and responsibilities of members), set up specialized strategic committees to leverage the diverse expertise of Board members.
- Operational Excellence & Regulatory Compliance: The Board is committed to upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance, including OHADA Uniform Act standards and national insurance regulations. Plans are also underway to harmonize staff remuneration and update performance indicators to attract and retain top-tier talent.
- Resource Mobilization & Sustainability: To ensure long-term impact, HEDECS is diversifying its resource mobilization strategy. This includes following through the resource mobilization underway with EF and also to develop a formal business plan that will add value to HEDECS vision and mission
- Name Evolution: In a move to better reflect its core mission, the Board approved a transition in the organization’s name from “Consultancy” to “Community” Services, maintaining the trusted HEDECS acronym.
Looking Ahead to 2026
The Board has established a clear roadmap for the first quarter of 2026, including a two-day physical meeting in Bamenda to validate new governance documents and finalize the annual plan of action.
As we move forward, HEDECS remains dedicated to its motto: “Improving health, empowering communities.”
